Año Nuevo
Año Nuevo is most well known for the thousands of elephant seals who come there to give birth, breed, molt, and rest throughout the year. Click here to see some photos of the park and its animal inhabitants.
Half Moon Bay
The most unique feature of the beach at Half Moon Bay is its status as a significant nesting ground for the Western Snowy Plover. These charming shore birds roost in any indentation in the sand (for example, a footprint) and lay their eggs in scrapes they make in the sand. This makes them especially vulnerable to disturbance by unwary beach goers and/or their dogs, or by predators such as foxes and raccoons. Click here to see some photos of the plovers, as well as other wildlife found at Half Moon Bay.
